Ohhh... Choo Choo...

This morning Oliver, Daddy, and Mommy made the trek to St. Paul to visit the Twin Cities Model Train Museum. Needless to say Oliver was living life to the fullest! Below is a link to some pictures, and a video.

Unfortunately we didn't capture a movie of his reaction to the trains the first time he saw them, but we did get a video with the second set of trains that passed.... though it wasn't as extravagant as the first you can still get the idea. He loved it!

Dear Oliver,

Train time baby, train times almost here! (Name that quote. I've got a "P" quarter to everyone who can.)

Train time is always fun. When I was a young man (even younger than your Daddy is now) I was working in Washington, DC and almost every Friday I would take the Metro-Liner (the fastest, coolest passenger train at the time) back to Philadelphia, then take a commuter train to Ambler(OMG Ambler), and then jump into my beater old Dodge and drive to Montandon to be a courtin' your Grandma. Unlike Thomas, we were topping out at 100+ mph. Now there's a sweet ride.

Maybe when you're here next time we can go to the zoo. Most zoos have trains. I'm pretty sure the Milwaukee zoo does. How cool is that -- trains and monkeys. Nice! You'd be in hog, or should I say monkey/train heaven! And, if you don't mind, I'm there too.

Love,
Poppy

I have a train story too. My father, who would be your great grandfather, had a farm in Pennsylvania and at the end of his property line there was a railroad track that trains ran on all the time when I was growing up. When I was very young, my parents took me down to stand beside the tracks because a train went by that was carrying the president of the United States, Harry Truman. I can still remember it even though I was very little. That railroad track still had trains running on it when your daddy was little. His cousin Ben used to run out of the house when he was visiting there as a little boy, yelling, "TRAIN, TRAIN." I bet you would have done the same thing! I'm glad you could go see the model trains. That must have been a fun day for you.

These are both great stories. Next time you guys come we should all go back to the museum. Oliver would love it and I'm sure you'd enjoy watching him shake and scream as the trains roll by:)

The only good train story I have is running out to the railroad tracks (or at least your daddy and uncle running out to the train tracks), to put a penny on the rail before a train came ... the train flattened the penny out like a pancake!
The only recent train story I have is when I had to wait for one on the way to work the other day and I was not pleased!
You are too cute and I love how your hair looks! :)
