Blog Update!

Hello All,

Well it’s been a fairly eventful weekend. Saturday night we were in Urgent Care for most of the night because Emily had an infection in her leg that was spreading. The doctor “numbed” the spot (it barely worked as Emily felt most all of it – the doc later said this should have been done under general anesthesia) then took a scalpel and scissors and dug out/drained all the puss. Mmm… delicious! She’s happily popping prescription pain pills now trying to dull the pain.

So we were all up late last night and had to get up early so we could meet Thomas the Tank. He stopped in Minnesota just to see his biggest fan. Pictures of the festivities are provided… sorry, no puss pictures.

There are also some pictures of Bruce’s 4th Birthday feast (make sure to turn up the volume), a ton of Charlotte pictures, and a bunch of videos. Here you go:

Hello again little Charlotte. It’s nice to see you opening up your eyes a bit. When I came to visit you kept them closed. (But then I would keep them closed when the funny-looking Uncle came around visiting, too!) It looks like your big brother is instructing you in all the finer arts of tank engines. When you get a little older, ask your mommy where the girls’ toys are. You don’t want those same blue sh*t kickers your brother has.

Not that I don’t like your sh*t kicker’s Oliver – it’s just that they look much more fetching on your rugged feet. (Although feel free to pawn off the women’s sunglasses to your sister.) It looks like you had a quite a bit of excitement when Thomas came to town. How exciting! All your Dad and I had was the Verona carnival – a train ride with big blue is much better!

I’m glad to hear all are well; sounds like a delightful hospital visit. I’m going to not think about that and sign off. Keep taking and posting those photos!

Hello to the little family...
Poppy and I really enjoyed seeing all the pictures and videos of you. Oliver, you are lucky to have such a nice baby sister, and Charlotte, you are lucky to have such a nice big brother. Your day with Thomas looked super fun. Oliver, I hate to admit it, but GG did not even know there was a "real" Thomas! Spending a day with him would be, for GG, like having a private cooking lesson with one of the Food Network chefs or something...so I can just imagine what an exciting day that would have been for you. Now when you play with your little Thomas, you can remember the day you had a ride on the real one. Charlotte, I'm so happy to see some pictures of you with your eyes open. Now don't get me wrong. I think it's great that you love to sleep.. GG does too! However it is nice for those of us who live so far away to have a little bit of an idea what you look like with those peepers open! I love your bath pictures. You look as though you enjoy your tubbies. I also like the pictures of you and Oliver spending quality time together on the blanket. It's nice he likes to get down to your level and point out all your charming features.. I hope you will always be good friends. Soon he'll be showing you how to play with his trains and trucks and cars..and how to watch for the trash man!
I'm anxious for your first smile. That should be just around the corner. Hope to see you before long, maybe just in time for that smile. Love and kisses all around, GG

Dear little ones,
Charlotte -- you sure are adorable. And from the looks of it, your brother thinks that you're adorable too -- he sure is interested in your cute little face! Also, for the record, I'm jealous that you get to nap all day. There are some days when I would love to do that too! (i.e. Monday - Friday).
Oliver, you looked like quite the happy conductor on your train ride with Thomas. I love how you clapped along to the song. I also think you looked adorable in your mommy's sunglasses ... they're nice and big for your face -- very fashion forward. Your daddy said that he hopes you don't start wearing women's underwear soon, but he seems to have forgotten the day(s) you got into the clean laundry ... I believe we have pictures (and videos!) of you in ladies undies.
I hope the pictures and videos keep coming!
Love,
Auntie Katie

Dear Oliver & Charlotte,
Dear Charlotte & Oliver,
Dear Oliver, Dear Charlotte ...

Being one of many, I know how important it is to be one of one. And you will always be.

Thank you so much for the very very very nice photos and videos and commentary. You guys are just so sweet and adorable and the best things that have happened to us in a very long time. (and Bruce is 4! OMG, time flies.)

Oliver--Trains are great. I love trains just as much as you (love trains.) When you get a little older or maybe the next time you head south (which ever comes first), we can go see the Baraboo Circus train when it goes through the Mad City. Heck, we can even go to the Baraboo Circus World Museum to see them any ol' time. And you know, elephants live a very long time. Maybe the one your Daddy and I rode there many years ago is still around. How cool would that be! Elephants never forget. Maybe, just maybe, she'll remember us (Especially your Daddy. Phew, what a whiff!)

Charlotte--What a sweet little girl you have grown up (well, 5 weeks is kinda grown up) to be. You are turning into a real dark haired, dark eyed beauty. And it's quite obvious that you have your Daddy exactly where your Aunt Katie has hers--wrapped around her your little finger, or in Katie's case around her fat little thumb. Even Molly knows how to work it. Poppy wants to see many more smiles and laughs!

Hope we get to see guys real soon. Maybe in a couple, maybe not. Who knows. Lots to do here, and so little time to do it.

Big fat ones all around.
Love,
Poppy
