Check out this video we took last night of Oliver. He was reading from his Eight Little Monkeys Book... the words to the book, which are also a song, go something like this:
Eight little monkeys jumping on the bed
One fell off and bumped his head
So Momma called the doctor and the doctor said
No more monkeys jumping on the bed!
Seven little monkeys jumping on the bed
One fell off and bumped his head
So Momma called the doctor and the doctor said
No more monkeys jumping on the bed!
Etc...
Make sure and turn up the volume so you can hear him read along with the book. He doesn't quite get the line "So Momma called the doctor and the doctor said" line so he improvises.
Also, once he turns and catches me video taping with our camera, he stops and says "Cheeseburger" (his version of say cheese) and continues to read. It's very cute.

Oh that is SO CUTE!!! Even with the volume turned way up, I had trouble hearing but after listening a couple times, I could get the gist of it. I envy you guys being able to listen to his cute little chatter all the time. And I loved the "cheeseburger" aside. :) Very, very cute!!
If you listen closely he basically says the following:
Eight Monkeys Lying in Bed.
They Bumped Their Head.
Ducka ducka (his improvisation).
No More Monkeys Lying in Bed.
A couple additional comments:
I kept waiting for Oliver to bump HIS head on the bed!
Also I didn't realize reading a book was such an athletic activity! It sure isn't for me. If I tried reading a book the way he does, I'd never get up off the floor!
Yeah, I got it after listening closely a couple times. I thought he was saying "Playing in bed." But same difference...
So cute!! I can mainly hear "no monkeys" and "bed". I loved the cheeseburger part too -- SOOO freaking cute!!!
OK Oliver, let's forget about the monkeys for a just a minute. We need to talk about little boys jumping on beds. When you're just a little bit older you'll have the upward stability to start jumping all over ever bed, chair and sofa in the house. I strongly endorse this behavior. Just think how delighted your mommy and daddy will be to see you becoming an athletic powerhouse!
Uncle Timmy,
I already do that. Mommy and Daddy have another video of me scaling the foot board of their bed and getting up there. Once I pull myself onto their bed I like to stand up with my arms raised high in the air, yell, and fall right on my face. I enjoy this very same activity on the sofa too.
Oliver
Excellent job reading Oliver. Your enunciation is better than most help desk operators. Too bad you are already overqualified for that job. And it kinda looked like tou had either a monkey on your back, or you're really hot for monkys.
About jumping on beds. Just ask your Daddy what happened when he continued to jump on his very nicely hand crafted Poppy bed, especially after being told many times not to? You guessed it, a broken side rail. And this didn't just happen once. The first time it was glued together. Did we learn from this? No we didn't. The next break required constructing an entire new rail. So my words of advice to you are to twofold: 1) keep on reading, and 2) jump all you want on the bed. It's payback time for Poppy!
